Watercolor & Mixed Media Artist

Like so many others, I began my art career after retirement about 10 years ago.  With no formal background in art, I found a fabulous mentor, who basically gave me a master's degree in watercolor painting. With that training, I ventured into creating my own style, with much experimentation.  I love to experiment and try new techniques.  One of my favorite ways to express myself is through vivid color in an exaggerated style. My work often starts with a photo that I abstract and manipulate until I find an image that speaks to me.  The process of manipulating the photo just sends me down the rabbit hole as it is just so fascinating and I never know what the final image will be as I don’t have a preconceived final image in my mind.  Then the painting process begins.

I love to work large, in both representational & non-representational (abstract) in watercolor & mixed media.  I am always learning and experimenting with all different type of materials and media.  I also love to share my successful experimentation techniques with other artists and I host a monthly session called “Paintbrush Pals” for the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society (SCVWS) members.  

I am currently showing my artwork at the Portola Art Gallery, in the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park.

I live and maintain a studio in Los Gatos, CA. When I am not painting, I enjoy my family and grandchildren immensely. 

I also participate in many art societies and are on the boards of many of them.  I continue to enter exhibitions and have won many awards and have achieved Signature Member Status in Watercolor West (WW) & Society of West-Coast Artists (SWA).  See my show list & awards.
